How a Heat Pump can Help You

We’re moving into heating season, which means now is the perfect time to have a new heating system installed in your home. If you’re looking for a new heating system before winter starts, you’re probably looking at a number of different systems. It’s good to examine all the various heating options before settling on one, just so you can figure out which heating system is the best one for you. Let’s take a look at how a heat pump can help you this winter.

Heat Pumps

A heat pump is constructed similarly to an air conditioner. There are two units, one installed outside and one installed inside, which are connected by power and refrigerant lines. While in heating mode, the outside unit will evaporate refrigerant to absorb thermal energy from the surrounding air. The refrigerant gas then travels down the refrigerant line to the inside unit, where it is condensed to release the collected heat. The difference between heat pumps and air conditioners is that a heat pump contains a part called the reversing valve. This valve allows the system to offer both heating and cooling modes.

Advantages of Heat Pumps

Heat pumps have a great many unique benefits to offer. For one, a heat pump can save you a lot of time and money by condensing both heating and cooling modes into a single system. Heat pumps are also quite a bit more energy efficient than standard heating systems, because they don’t have to burn fuel in order to generate heat. If you’re looking for a climate control system that will both save you money and make your home more comfortable, a heat pump is the way to go.
