Pricing Information

Old saying: Cheap work is not good. Good work is not cheap.

First, lets take a look at how the air conditioning companies price their products and services. We want you to be  informed, and we also want you to be comfortable with our charges in relation to other companies.

Basically, there are two methods of pricing while performing service work. These two methods are called "Time and Materials", and the other is called "Flat Rate Pricing", or "customer assured pricing".

With the "Time and Materials" method it is always fair to both the customer and the service company, because both receive a good "value".  Value means that you get the most for the least. If the job is quick, you pay less than if the job is long to complete.  Most service work goes fairly quickly when it comes to normal diagnosis, or simple parts changing.

"Flat Rate Pricing" assures the customer that the price is $XXX.00 for doing a particular service or replacement.  This is good in one respect, and that is that you know how much it will cost from the start, but the down side is that you are going to pay for a worse case situation, and not something that may only take the service person a few minutes to complete. If another problem shows itself, then another "add on price" jumps into the picture.

The second thing about "Flat Rate Pricing" is that it usually (read always) is based on higher per hour rates than "Time and Materials".  Some companies place their base hourly for flat rate at $150.00 per hour or more, and then it is a worse case scenario for the time to do the job.

Feel free to ask your service person what method they use. It's your money.

Air-One uses both methods of pricing. For standard replacement items such as motors and electrical components we have flat fees for doing many of these types of jobs.

When you have us do your residential work, our price is $49 for the first 15 minutes when we arrive on the property in our service area, then the charge is $16.25 for each additional 15 minutes we are working on the job. The first 15 minutes covers our costs of lots of things such as office expenses, fuel, truck milage, advertising, utilities at the office, and a host of other expenses.  Just to have someone sit in the truck and drive costs about $36 per hour when all expenses are included plus taxes.

Outdoor fan motors usually cost between $185, and $275 to replace depending on horsepower and complexity.  Indoor blower motors usually cost between $225 and $400 depending on the type, horsepower, and complexity of the job.  If your unit is out of warranty, and the compressor fails, we usually recommend replacing the unit rather than just the compressor.  In warranty (after the first year) compressor replacement runs about $400 to $500 depending upon where we have to go to obtain one.

Unit replacement is slightly different.  We charge for our diagnosis that your air conditioner is indeed needing replacing.  We will give you the cost of the unit you want, then we will charge for the service call of $49 if you do not want to purchace a new unit just now.  If you decide to have us install the new unit you do not have to pay the $49, or we will refund it out of the cost of the new unit.

Prices in Denton range all over the place. A few small companies with poorly trained personnel charge less than Air-One. Others companies charge a good bit more.  Our objective is value. Good, reliable, honest work at a fair price. We are happy when you are cool or warm and happy with our work.

We hope this information is helpfull to you, and that you will give us the opportunity to do your work.
